We had a lovely stay in the run up to Christmas, it is such a magical place to be at Christmas time. On arrival the house was warm which was very welcoming and there was even a present under the tree for us, which was a lovely touch. We also loved the detail of a guard at the bottom of the stairs which it made it a more relaxing stay with the dog. The sea view is a lot better than the pictures, we would definitely stay again.

Thank you for a lovely break at Sea Gem. A cosy, comfortable and homely house with everything needed for a restful break. It’s the perfect distance from the sea with wonderful sea views from the window seats. Humans & dogs felt very much at home & didn’t want to leave. Sea Gem is perfectly placed to visit lots of local spots. Jane provided just the right information beforehand and it was reassuring to know she was just an email away in case there were any problems or we wanted any info about the local area. We really hope to visit again.

Just returned from a lovely week staying at Sea Gem in Cornwall. This is a cute spacious and cosy semi detached cottage with a small rear garden/yard. The property which is well equipped is based in the characteristic fishing harbour of Newlyn. At the front there is a cosy lounge with window seat and side views to the beach, to the rear there is a kitchen diner, on the first floor there are three bedrooms and a good sized shower room (excellent shower). Parking is on street but we didn't have any issues finding somewhere to park. There are numerous places to eat and have a drink around Newlyn Harbour. Point to note: Newlyn village is a traditional hilly fishing village. I'd be more than happy to recommend and stay at Sea Gem again.

We have just spent a week at the beautiful Sea Gem, and what a week it was. The house really is home from home with home comforts. It’s a great base if you are one for touring the area like we did, or great for chilled day / night with great cooking facilities, it even had a washing machine so very little washing to come home with - huge bonus!
The house was very clean, tidy and considering you can also take dogs, does NOT have that doggy house smell. Great information left in a little handbook of all you could want to know about all sorts with the area. Every step of booking was easy, clear and very informative owners!
Thank you for a great week in your gorgeous Gem by the Sea xx

We stayed for a week in August. Sea Gem is a lovely, clean, nice sized house. Well appointed. The location was excellent for our needs (close to Penzance and the Minack Theatre). Just a nice easy place to spend a week. We were concerned about parking before we arrived but never had a problem finding a space on the road. It's tight but that's to be expected in a Cornish village. We had a slight issue with a kitchen appliance but the response from the owner was swift and resolved the issue. She kept us in the loop at all times. We will definitely rebook when we return to the area.

We had a lovely holiday! The house was very comfortable and perfect for our stay. The location was great, plenty of walks into Penzance, bus to Mousehole, a short drive to Porthcurno and Marazion and a train ride to St Ives. The facilities in the house were great, room for us to eat and play games as a family and relax in the evening. Highly recommended!

I attended a four day course at Newlyn College of Art and stayed at Sea Gem.This was ideal as the cottage is just around the corner from the college. The cottage itself is very comfortable and has a light and airy ambience. During my stay, I had to contact the owners a couple of times and this proved to be easy and pleasant. A great base for a family stay. The open top bus along the coast was particularly exhilarating and took us to St Ives where we visited the Tate Barbara Hepworth Museum which was actually her own home.

We have just had the most wonderful week in Newlyn, staying at Sea gem. The cottage was absolutely fantastic. There has been a lot of thought and care gone into it. We didn't want for anything. So clean and comfortable. It was a pleasure to return at the end of the day to sit and relax. Fantastic views from the window. Lovely quiet location. Will definitely recommend to our friends. Thankyou once again for making our stay so wonderful. Kind regards Sally-ann and Michael

Sea Gem is a beautifully comfortable house to spend some time away in. Everything you need to make your stay comfortable is provided, very clean and homely. Jane was extremely accommodating during our stay . Super enclosed garden for our dogs , having access to the side gate was a brilliant touch , meaning we could bring wet dogs back in that way to dry off in the garden. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful home.

We have just spent a wonderful New Year at Sea Gem! It’s a great location for exploring the wild West Cornish coast, taking an easy flat stroll along the seafront into Penzance for some great shopping, or walk a short distance to see the special festive lights in Mousehole. We took a taxi into St Ives, some 20 minutes away by car, for a magical New Years Eve to enjoy the fireworks and a fantastic atmosphere. Sea Gem has everything you need for a very comfortable stay, and is cosy and warm when the weather isn’t so great…..a real home from home. It is highly recommended for a super holiday, whatever the time of year.

Just got back from a lovely holiday in Sea Gem, Newlyn. What a fantastic location the house is in. If you like fish this is the place to come. Jane has gone to such detail, as the house is very well equipped, it is just like being in your own home. Great comfy beds so we had a great nights sleep.
Good location to many beautiful bays.
Would book again. Thank you for looking after us.

A great base to explore the southern parts of Cornwall. The house is well appointed, clean and homely. On street parking is limited but Newlyn harbour carpark is only a 5 minute walk down the hill (10 minutes up 😉)
Newlyn is w working port with shops and some great food options, the chip shop on the junction being a must with daily Gluten free options which is rare. Mousehole is within walking distance on the coast road / footpath, so grab some chips, take in the views and wash the day away with a good pint or two.

Thanks Jane, the whole family enjoyed the break.

We have just left Sea Gem Cottage after having a lovely week here. The cottage had amazing views and had everything we needed to have a great stay. We walked down to the centre and had a nice meal in the Bridge Inn, the pubs are all welcoming and dog friendly. There is a good walk along the front in to Penzance where we could take the dogs on the beach. We walked to Mousehole , this was a lovely place to visit. Sea Gem is in a great location to reach places like St Ives Lands End and Lizard Point , which we visited.
We would highly recommend by Sea Gem Cottage it is a great place to stay. Thank you for having us. Jane Paul and Aimee Jenner and hounds

We had a great stay in Newlyn. The house was amazing. We stayed for a week with 5 persons - with enough space for us. 5 minutes walk to the beach, 8 minutes to the town. Penzance is about 20 minutes away. So, the location is perfect - also a quite night, because there is no public traffic. We would book this house again and we will recommend it to our friends.

We had such a lovely stay at Sea Gem over the February half-term. The cottage is very clean and well equipped... perfect for our family of five. It's also excellently located for sightseeing. We visited The Lizard, Cape Cornwall, Mousehole, St. Ives, St. Michael's Mount, Porthleven and Hayle (where the whole family enjoyed go karting). Aunty Mays' pasties and the Chinese in Newlyn were both excellent too. A great holiday location - thank you.

Just returned from a trip to Cornwall. The Sea Gem is a lovely house and had everything we needed, even space for our dog's crate in the kitchen/diner. All the rooms were well equipped and the beds really comfy. Although we couldn't get parked outside the property we always managed to get a space nearby in the same road. We had a wonderful time.

Would definitely loved to come back!

We booked Sea Gem due to its location to where my parents and brother and brother in law where staying with plans to spend Christmas with them at their house. Unfortunately Covid hit their house the day after we arrived and my parents ended up having to go home. So although we didn’t plan Christmas Day at Sea gem, we spent a fabulous week there and managed to knock up a last minute Christmas dinner too. The house was so homely and comfortable with enough space for our three children. There are gorgeous views of the sea, Penzance and a favourite of mine, Jubilee Pool. I loved the window seats in the bay windows where you could sit and read or watch the lights of Newlyn and Penzance. We have stayed in Newlyn several times now but we were so glad to have Sea Gem as our own space for the week. Even though we were unable to spend time with the rest of our family over the Christmas period, our stay was made so much easier. We were very happy to spend much more time in the house than we originally planned. It just felt so comfortable. We enjoyed daily walks to either Mousehole, Newlyn and Penzance (several times!) The children loved the arcades, and we loved the local pub and also discovered great cocktails in The Artist Residence. We walked at Godrevy and I even swam in the sea on Christmas Day! We would definitely recommend Sea Gem to any of our family and friends and we would love to stay there again. Jane, the host was great at communicating with us, both before we arrived and once we got there too. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we hope to be back soon!

We have just enjoyed a week at Jane’s lovely house in Newlyn. The beds are all comfortable with lovely linen. Everything we needed in the kitchen/breakfast room. Comfortable living room with two sofas and a great tv. All areas were very clean and nicely decorated. Fantastic location for anyone attending a course at the Newlyn School of Art. Great pubs, restaurants and shops nearby. Jane even put a Christmas tree up for us which was very thoughtful. We would definitely stay again.

Sea Gem certainly lives up to its name. We had a great week. Newlyn is an interesting, friendly place and we loved exploring the narrow streets as we walked up and down. The house has everything you need and is very comfortable. I loved looking out every morning from the window seat to Penzance and the bay. The art college is just around the corner so ideal for attending a course. Great places to eat and I can thoroughly recommend it .

We spent 5 days at Sea Gem coming from the Isle of Skye. Lovely area with a great view of the sea front from the top of the hill. Clean, well equipped and spacious. Street parking not to bad, got parked most days outside the house, but a warning if not used to very narrow streets! Would recommend Sea Gem.

Just spent a super week in this well situated, clean, fully equipped and lovely house. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding area and a few minutes walk to the seafront at Newlyn and along the lovely dog friendly promenade to Penzance. The main restaurants and pubs in Newlyn are very close by and were very good.! Sea Gem is highly recommended for a great break.

Brilliant location for visiting lots of fab places, Penzance, St Ives, Mousehole, Sennen Cove, Lands End and more. Trengwainton Gardens (National Trust) worth a visit. Newlyn Beach is walkable but be prepared for a steep climb back! Would recommend without hesitation.

The house has been carefully prepared for visitors, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Large white fluffy towels and smooth ironed sheets on the beds, what a luxury. I slept so well that I even looked for the make of mattress so I can buy one for myself at home. If you are taking an art course at the Newlyn art school, it is perfect as it is literally around the corner! Tip, I left my car parked in their car park and walked back as parking is tight on the streets around Newlyn.

A lovely place to stay - very clean and comfortable and well equipped. Experienced our first ever Pagan Festival on May 1st, got sunburned one day and needed winter woollies the next! Fabulous walks from the house on the South Coast Path and easy access to places further afield: Lands End, Sennen Cove, Bottallack, Marazion. Super location for exploring. Thankyou for letting us use your house!

We were very comfortable in Jane's little gem of a house. Coming back windswept and wet from days out to nearby Land's End, St Ives, our favourite Porthcurno or other lovely places, it was like coming back to your own warm, dry and comfortable home. The fishing village of Newlyn is full of character with it's narrow, steep streets (you certainly get fit walking up from the harbour) and has lovely looking restaurants and pubs - we tried the Red Lion and a very family friendly (and delicious!) Italian/tapas place called The Bridge. Fish and Chips are also amazing and, like all the fish in the area, freshly caught from Newlyn.

We loved our stay at Janes. Jane was excellent at answering any questions we had, and was very responsive. The property was lovely, just the right size for us (a family of 2 adults and 2 children) and was very clean throughout. It was just the little getaway we needed in these times of uncertainty, we will be back.

Jane’s house is absolutely fantastic; beautiful interior (we loved all the different fabrics chosen) and has everything you could want. The beds were so comfortable; we all slept better than we do at home! Location was great too; stunning views from the property and only a short walk to a super choice of restaurants, pubs, shops etc. We loved staying and will definitely be returning. Thanks

This truly is a 'gem' of a place. It is located in a quiet street, with beautiful views over Mounts Bay. The house is bright and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is spacious and well equiped, with a small outside area. You can see from the detail that this is a cared for holiday home and provdes an excellent base to explore Newlyn and the surrounding area. We enjoyed our stay immensly and can't wait to return. Highly recommended!
